This one isn't as focused as some of the others, but it captures her true smile just perfectly. She smiles the most when I use this high pitched voice and ask her if she wants kisses. Of course, we call kisses 'ninners' for some reason. My addiction to baby talk probably.
This week Cara is really starting to be more aware of her toys and other things - she is reaching out to grab them as well as our faces. She does this primarily with her right hand, I think the left side seems to follow developments a little more slowly. I guess we probably have a 'righty' on our hands.
Cara has been a fussy in the evenings and has an addiction to her momma. That will probably change in a couple weeks when she goes to day care. That day is going to be hard for me.

Video of Cara on her mat
I also taped some video of her on her mat today. She was making some great noises.
Pretty girl
She really is in such a good mood during the day. I think I must tire her out with her activities though, because she gets cranky at night. Maybe I should post some cranky pictures. Not as fun for mom!
Cara and her activity mat
Cara played on her activity mat today. We attempted it before, but she wasn't as interested. Today she was very excited and actually grabbed and held the toys that dangle over her head.

I've found my hand
Cara has found her hand. Apparently it is quite tasty because she cannot get enough! The doctor says that it will help her to self soothe. I will take what I can get if it helps her get more sleep at night. She actually does quite well and usually only wakes one time per night, so I guess I shouldn't complain!
Happy 2 Month Birthday Blue Eyes!
I had to have a photoshoot on my actual 2 month birthday. Unfortunately, later in the day we had the 2 month immunization shots. Cara did not feel well later that day. Poor thing. At her appointment, she weighed 13 lbs, 7 ounces and was 23 3/4 inches. She is in the 95th percentile for size given that she was larger at birth. She's a healthy baby :)
Action shot
As we've previously mentioned, Cara LOVES her changing table. It is the perfect position to see everything. She just loves to play. This shot gives a little insight as to how active she can be on the table!
Car seat
Cara and mom bring dad to the train in the morning during our maternity leave. Some mornings, Cara will fall asleep in her car seat and she seems so content that I have a tough time taking her out. Needless to say, she sometimes takes her morning nap in her seat.
Peaceful Sleeping
Cara just looks so peaceful when she sleeps. I just love those full lips. I bought a new lens and am liking how these pictures are coming out, but I still need a little practice with some aspects of the focusing.

Cara at 7 weeks
I think that most of you have seen these, but I just love this picture. www.flickr/adicobmcdonnell for more!
Cara and her art
Cara just LOVES the pictures on our living room walls. She can't get enough. I actually like to have her take her naps in front of them so when she wakes up, they are the first thing she sees when she wakes. This video shows how excited she can get. Looking at the picture is part of her morning ritual. They should sell these pictures at Babies 'R Us!
Cara smiling
I keep trying to get a good video of her smiling, but she always teases me and then when I get out the camera she makes it more work for me! She's already difficult - just like mom.
Cara sleeping
Cara was conked out making some cute noises, but we missed them, but I thought she looked cute sleeping anyway.
Cara and her Mobile, continued
As we know, Cara loves her Tiny Love Symphony Mobile. I thought I would record an updated video to show how she is able to better move her head to track her friends on the mobile.
Cara Dancing with Daddy on Christmas Eve
Cara really loves a CD that Tony and Beth sent us - Disney Classical Lullibies I believe. In particular, there isa a version of 'All I Have to Do is Dream.' When she was a little younger, we used to rock her to sleep to the songs. It worked like a charm!
This video clip shows daddy using the moves he learned for our wedding dance with Cara.

Cara's New Blog

Well, I have decided to try to start a blog for little Cara. I figured that it would be a good place to update everyone with pictures and developments in Cara's life. I thought it would also be great to help us remember all the exciting times - I would hate to forget.
Cara turned 7 weeks today and we can really see a difference in her the past couple days. She has suddenly become much more alert and loves to play. Before this week she would smile some and of course loved her crib moble and the art work on the walls in the living room, but she is now really loving play time. Her favorite play spot is laying on her changing table - she likes to listen and watch as we talk to her and she also likes to look at her stuffed animals. not to mention that she actually likes having her diaper changed.
Speaking of being changed. We have really started to use the cloth diapers the last couple weeks and we really like them. Far less mess than the plastic, disposable diapers! Our favorate so far are the Bum Genius 3.0 diapers. Cara is a little bit of a 'green' baby with her cute cloth diapers.
Cara is sleeping pretty well during the night. She can go 4 hours between feedings most times during the night, so that is good. The only bad thing is that sometimes she wants to stay up and play for awhile after she eats at night - Momma is trying to find some solutions for that!
Well, that's it for openers, I will try to add some additional details about the first seven weeks as I get time.
More to come....
