Da da da da da

Cara has found a new sound that she just loves - "da da da da da." She really has the sound perfected! Daddy is convinced that she is calling his name :)

Play time at the Bermuda airport

The Bermuda airport had a great play area with big bean bag chairs and some cool toys. Cara enjoyed it - especially since she got to watch some other kids - she had been looking at us adults for too long. Kids are so much more fun!

Luckily, the beach has rocks which provide some shade while being able to enjoy the warmth and beautiful ocean. Cara seemed to love the experience - she even got to dip her toes in the ocean, not to mention the sand. She also took some long naps with the wonderful breeze providing just enough natural air conditioning. We can't wait to go back and visit again!

Uncle Andrew and Cara at the Beach

Cara had a fun time visiting Uncle Andrew - she hasn't yet figured out just how silly he can be, though she did figure out that he can be quite entertaining!

Art show

This photo was taken before we headed to Cara's school art show on Saturday. Although we missed the slide show of pictures, we did get to see the painting Cara created (with the help of her teachers Shannon and Ellen). Cara also got to play with her friend for a little while. She really seemed to enjoy it.

Happy Six Month Birthday - May 15, 2009

At six months Cara is sitting up pretty well on her own, laughs a lot, loves her toys (especially ones that makes noise), likes to roll on her side, loves when soft things touch her face. Cara has also begin to get a little more cuddly. She likes to rub her face on our shoulder and face when she is sleepy.

After work on the evening of her birthday, I took her out on the grass to take some birthday photos. She did fall sideways onto the grass a couple times. I'm not sure she liked the grass in her face, but she didn't cry. Must have been an interesting sensation.

Happy Baby

Though, they did admit that she sometimes gets a bit mad when they have to take her away from her toys to get a diaper change.

She's our little sunshine girl. That's what I call her when she wakes up. A ray of sunshine.

Arnold Arboretum Lilacs

Cara, Michael and I went for a walk at Arnold Arboretum to see the lilacs in bloom on Mother's Day. They were beautiful and smelled wonderful, but the crowd was much more than expected. I guess people enjoy lilacs more than I suspected. We then went to visit Michael's gGrandma Byrne in the hospital. Family members from PEI were in town, so it was nice to see everyone all in one place.

Mommy's Dream Come True - Mother's Day 2009

We had a nice Mother's Day weekend. The weather was pretty nice, so we enjoyed the weather. I received an iPhone as a present, it is a pretty fun toy. Cara and daddy also got me flowers and cards. It's still crazy, to think I am a mom, but it is true that Cara is my "dream come true."

Mmmmmmm....feet

Sitting up

Cara has been sitting up on her own pretty well for the last week. She really loves it as it gives her a better perspective on the world and a little bit more control over her world. She still is at the point where she eventually tips over on her side, but that will pass. Although the rolling over thing is not her favorite. She is able to do so if we force the issue, but she has a mind of her own and I am sure it will come in due time, unless she decides crawling is for the birds and she is into scooting on her bum.

Laughs

I have been playing a game with her where I go out of her sight and then jump in front of her and make the 'surprised noise' where you suck in your breath. This is definitely the most hilarious thing she has ever seen and she can't get enough!

She is definitely a happy baby, but she does like attention. She will play for awhile in her exersaucer, but she likes to know someone is near. She is a bit of a contradiction - she likes people to be around her, she doesn't want to be alone, but she doesn't love to be snuggled. To tell you the truth, I am a lot like that, so the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Michael loves people around and doesn't mind a hug or two (though that is a secret since it is behind his tough persona - I will find out if he reads this if I get in trouble for having written this). I hope she ends up more like her dad because I could give her as many hugs as she can imagine.

Flexibility

I like to let her lie around without her clothes to promote the flexibility. Sometimes I wonder if all the clothes and diaper are a bit constricting. Either way, she sure has fun without them. She has always enjoyed her time on her changing table and that hasn't changed at all.

Eating videos

The following are a couple clips of Cara's first attempts at eating. In the first one, I didn't have a baby spoon or anything, but I wanted to give her a little taste since she was so very interested in everything I was eating. In the second, it was her first time in her chair with the whole process. Unfortunately, this clip is nearing the end of the feeding and she was getting tired. She seems to enjoy eating, but it may partly be because she gets to sit in the high chair and be a part of the action. I can tell she does enjoy the cereal as well since she keeps opening her mouth for more!
