BBQ in Stoneham
We went to a BBQ at Michael's Uncle David's in Stoneham on Saturday to celebrate Father's Day. Michael's cousins have tons of little girls and I had such a great time taking photos of them. Cara loved watching them run around. I can't tell she wishes she could join them. Soon enough!
Getting serious on the mat
We bought Cara some foam matting to go on the hard wood floor in the living room. She has a nice, cushy play spot with all her toys right in front of the big front window. She loves to play with her toys. She especially loves when mom fills a basket or her wagon with toys so she can dump them all out. This is a favorite activity at day care as well. She seems to be able to lift baskets that are quite heavy - doesn't seem like it should be possible. Maybe she has Dada's muscles?
Cowmooflage
I ordered Cara a new "big girl" car seat from Amazon. Now, we finally have two. Previously, we had a base in each car to fit the infant car seat that snapped in, but since Cara has become so heavy, I don't really carry her around in the car seat. Instead I take her in and out. One morning Michael was able to stay home for a bit and take Cara to day care, unfortunately I had taken the car seat with me to work, so Cara had to stay home with Dada. That precipitated the ordering of a second car seat. Michael says the Cowmooflage is a "cheesy" print - but I like it! I think it shows off Cara's fun side.
Love the Earth
Since I have such a green baby with her cloth diapers, I thought this t-shirt was only fitting. She is inspiring her mom and dad to try to be better to the earth, ourselves and our baby. Cara has been eating organic so far. She really loves the Earth's Best Organic baby food - Summer Vegetable Dinner is a fave! She's getting so big. At seven months she is already just over 20 pounds!
Family
It's been awhile since my last post. Michael's grandmother passed away last week at age 96. She was a wonderful woman. So smart, so cool, with everything in perspective - someone we all wish we could be like. She will be missed - that is an understatement.
We were able to spend some quality time with Michael's family which is always fun. Unfortunately, Cara wasn't feeling that great. She was feverish last Saturday and we ended up having to take her to the Emergency Room at Children's Hospital. She had a fever of 102.8 45 minutes after taking Tylonol and she was really cranky. We thought it better to have her checked. She ended up having an ear infection, but some antibiotics seemed to do the trick.

Seven Months
Cara turns 7 months tomorrow. She is turning out to be a very happy and giggly little girl. Momma knows just how to make her laugh - jumping at her and scaring her is absolutely hilarious. I call it peek a boo on crack (not literally Cara - if you are now reading this when you are a bit older...hopefully crack is a thing of the past!) Cara does have a temper though - when she's mad, she's mad. Day care continues to talk about this - she's such a good girl most of the time, that when she turns the corner in the other direction, it's a bit different. Mostly, she just gets mad when she wants some attention - I think that is a fair thing to be mad about!

Playground
We are lucky to have a great playground facility in Faxon Park - right across the street from our house. Obviously, Cara is a bit to young to use the park, but I did walk her across the street and put her in the swing for a photo op with her new hat. I can't wait to take more pictures of her in this hat. I love the colors.
Cara actually slept through the night (9pm - 5:30am) for the first time in months. A year ago, if you told me I would wake up relieved at 5:30am, I would have said you were nuts!

Teeth
So, Cara sprung two teeth over the past week and a half. You can see them in this picture (though you may have to blow it up a little). She was a little crankier than normal. I guess she was doing some screaming at day care when she got tired. It seems to have passed now that they are through the gum. Can't be a fun process!
Outside
I took Cara out to play on the grass again. Michael did a ton of landscaping on Sunday, so Cara and I decided to watch. Must be torture to be slaving away while people are just watching you! Cara does tend to get bored inside so it is nice to have the option of using the yard for some new scenery.
I can do it myself!
Cara seems to think she can feed herself. She actually doesn't really have the hang of it, but she thinks she does. It has gotten to the point where I have to have two spoons and I switch between the two spoons for each bite. She holds the first empty spoon, I give her a spoonful with the second spoon, but then she drops the first spoon and goes for the second. Repeat!
Still eating
Cara continues to do very well at eating. She likes most varieties of food, though fruits still seem to be way to sweet. After tasting her fruit her face contorts like she just tasted the most sour pickle in the world.
Castle Island
This past weekend, we decided to go to Castle Island for one of our walks. We ran into Michael's cousin Paul and his daughter Elizabeth taking a walk as well. Elizabeth was a bit skeptical of my picture taking, but it was really nice to run into them.
Humarock
After returning from Bermuda, we needed to spend some time at a Massachusetts beach. Jessica came over on Sunday, May 31 and we drove to Humarock beach in Marshfield. We had a nice long walk and were able to take some great pictures of Cara on the beach. Unfortunately, I forgot Cara's bottle and we had a stressful walk back to the car! Poor Jessica had to drive the empty Bob stroller - which sounds easier than it is! Especially when you have to walk up a wall of stones - they don't call it Huma'rock' for nothin!
Independence
Cara loves to sit on the floor with pillows around her (just in case she topples over - though this is more and more rare) and play with her toys. She still loves her soft book, rattle and is now getting into blocks. Being able to sit up unassisted really seems to give her a sense of independence.
