Cara's Day Care asked for a picture of the family for their "family tree." I didn't have a recent one, so I decided to set up the timer and get one about 5 minutes before Michael had to run to the airport. I couldn't get Cara to look at the camera for very long without someone behind it calling to her! I now need to get this printed so she can bring it for the "family tree."

School Pictures
Cara had her school pictures this week, but they said she didn't want to smile for the photographer. He obviously isn't as amusing as mom! So, I decided to take a few pictures in the outfit she used for picture day - at least I got one decent smile!
Computing
Cara always sees me on my computer and she wants to play with it really badly. Unfortunately, I paid too much for it to let her ruin it, so I tried to get her her own computer. She seems amused by it so far. Very intense!
Fruit
We had some fun with fruit this week. It has been a real challenge to find a good variety of finger foods for Cara. I try to make sure I get fruits, veggies, protein, breads - and for the most part we make an effort to go organic. There is a great store around the corner that sells all organic, it has been fun to walk there and check it all out. Since I do work, I don't necessarily have the time to make and prepare finger foods, so I try to find some easy options. We thought some unthawed frozen fruit might be interesting.....yes, it was interesting....AND MESSY as you can see from the picture. Cara seemed to enjoy it though. She has been eating fresh bananas and raspberries this week as well and those are a little less messy. I also made her some pasta with cheese and squash...she seemed to enjoy the pasta - I think it was the cheese that did it. Cara LOVES cheese!

Hanging on
So, I had to get out my camera before work on Friday. Cara had on her jeans and sneakers and just looked like the cutest girl in the world. This outfit really made her look like a little toddler, rather than the baby - of which she is keeping the title for a little bit longer.
Though she does love to stand, she hasn't quite mastered getting there herself unless she is pulling up on mom. I think that must give her more confidence because she knows mom will catch her if she falls. It was a slight risk stepping back to take this picture because sometimes she does let go and falls straight back.....but she's getting there.
You may also notice that she looks pretty tired. This was taken at 8AM and she had just woken up. Pretty late for Cara! It was dark and rainy outside - who doesn't want to sleep in on those days?

Funny face
This was taken last week - how could I have forgotten to blog this one! Such a funny little face. This is taken in her room. After we get home from work/day care, there is often some good light that comes through her window, so we try to take advantage. In this shot, she is starting to get annoyed with my picture taking!
Lots of fun stuff out the window!
Cara is always very excited to see what is outside. Usually just trees, grass and birds - but I guess all that is pretty exciting to someone that hasn't experienced them too much.
Long weekend and a rented lens
Well, Day Care was closed on Friday/Monday for Labor day, so I took off Thursday - Monday to spend some quality time with my girl. It was a blast, but it will be very difficult to leave her and go to work tomorrow. As I've mentioned in the past, vacations are even more bitter sweet when you have to leave a darling baby at the other end.
I had the opportunity to rent a lens that I have been curious about. This thing is a monster - Canon's 24-70 USM. It is supposed to be great for portraits, weddings, etc. So, instead of spending an obnoxious amount of money on it, I decided to rent it to see how I like it. Well, it has produced some amazing shots, but it is really hit or miss. I have to take a ton of shots and my success rate isn't as high as my old standard 50mm. Probably just takes some getting used to.
So, Miss Cara had NUMEROUS photoshoots this weekend. I don't think she minds too much, but sometimes she wonders why I hide behind this huge black plastic thing. She would also like to get her grubby paws on it, but we try to avoid that!
As you can see we had some fun with newspapers. Cara loves ripping up paper - we just have to watch her close because she also like to eat it.
In addition to pictures, we had dinner with Aunt Sarah and Uncle Tim, had some play time with Grandma and Grandpa McDonnell and went for a photoshoot with the Freve kids. But mostly, Mom and Cara just hung out and laughed as much as possible! Dada was also able to join in on some jokes! I think Cara did say Daddy - it really sounded like it. II may have mentioned before that, she really tries to say Baby - but it comes out like Daydee. It's pretty cute. She loves her baby dolls! But not as much as the Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal that her Uncle Paul (Hooper) got her. I really need to get a good photo with them together. She always chooses Winnie above all other and tries to say "WInnie" - it is a stretch, but you can tell she is trying!
Today was a milestone for Cara - She finally sat up from a lying position all by herself. Now, with daddy traveling for work, I am a bit nervous to leave her in her crib because the mattress isn't quite low enough. So, she may be sleeping in the big bed for a couple nights.
Back to work/day care tomorrow....it was fun while it lasted!
